Jeff Bezos, at Amazon has reshaped the retail business. Within his organisation there are countless meetings, every day. For each key meeting that takes place Bezos insists that one chair remains empty in the room. It's there to be a significant reminder to each of the participants that the most important person in the organisation is not present and cannot speak for themselves: the customer. This ensures that pertinent, relevant questions are asked during the meetings including, "What does the customer want?" or "Why would they want to do that?"...
For every project there is a customer and, if you're researching or preparing a presentation, think about their interests, what do they want to hear from you and how do they want to hear it?
